Resonance is an invitation to meet the turning of the season: the return of light, the emergence of new life, and the point of balance between darkness and light.

Within a carefully held space, breath, sound, movement, dance and voice will become your guides.

As the light builds again, you’ll be gently invited to do the same: to rise towards Spring Equinox, connect with the energy moving through you, and listen for what this seasonal threshold may be revealing.

From the moment you arrive and lay down your mat, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, grounded and trauma-aware space held by four experienced facilitators and assistants:

Together, they will guide you through a layered journey of intention, Breathwork Mastery, embodied movement, ecstatic dance, sound healing, kirtan, heart songs and grounded integration.

Early Bird tickets are $135 until 2 September, then $150.

What to expect

We’ll begin in a shared circle, taking time to arrive in the body, meet the group and connect with your intention for the journey.

What has called you here?

What are you ready to meet, honour, release or invite into your life as the season turns?

Shelby will then prepare and guide you into Breathwork Mastery (RBM): a parasympathetic activating breath style, that is subtle and relaxed, to allow for a broad range of experiences.

The invitation is to continue remembering to breathe each breath, staying with the sensations and noticing our responses to the sonic landscape. Holly will gradually direct us towards embodied movement, flowing into ecstatic dance. The journey will gradually build from grounded presence into waves of expression before softening into spacious integration.

You’ll then be invited to rest into a restorative crystal bowl and live sound experience with Angie and Holly, followed by Kirtan and heart songs guided by Holly, Zoe, and friends.

We’ll close with time to integrate, connect and enjoy nourishing tea, refeshments and treats together.

About Breathwork Mastery RBM

This truly unique strand under the breathwork umbrella, emphasises a gentle, conscious, connected breath through the nose, awareness of body sensations with intentions directing the process.

There is nothing to achieve and no “right” kind of experience. Each breathwork journey is unique and self-generated. Your experience may feel subtle, spacious, emotional, physical, insightful or deeply restful.

Sensations, emotions, memories, insights or familiar patterns may come into awareness, offering an opportunity to meet what is present with curiosity.

Previous participants in Breathwork Mastery sessions have expressed feeling a greater sense of calm, clarity, presence and connection—not because they have been told what they should experience, but because they have been given space to listen inwardly and allow for an authentic experience.

Breathwork may support:

  • Greater body awareness
  • Relaxation and the release of held tension
  • Emotional awareness and integration
  • Clarity and connection with your intentions
  • An expanded capacity for presence, joy and connection

The facilitator’s role is to prepare the space, explain the practice and support your individual experience. You remain in choice throughout the session and may slow or pause your breathing, change position, sit up or ask for support at any time. For resonance, Shelby will also be supported by trained assisting practitioners throughout the breathwork journey, so participants can access additional support when needed.

Breathwork participation note

This is a gentle breathwork practice, but individual circumstances vary. Please let us know before participating if you are pregnant or have a significant cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric or other medical condition.

Breathwork is a complementary wellbeing practice and is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. If you are unsure whether it is appropriate for you, please seek advice from your healthcare professional and contact us before the event.

About the movement and dance

Holly from the Canberra Ecstatic Dance Collective will shape a rich, dynamic soundscape that gradually builds from grounded presence into waves of expression.

Expect tribal rhythms, earthy downtempo, ethno-electronica, organic textures, deep bass and softer, spacious beats.

The musical journey is designed to support the transition from breathwork into embodied movement, expression and integration—allowing the body to move with what has emerged and gradually settle into stillness.

There are no steps to follow and no dance experience is needed.

You might move actively, sway gently, remain seated or continue lying on your mat. You are invited to listen to your body and choose the form of participation that feels supportive for you.

About the sound journey

Angie will share a crystal singing bowl experience, complemented by Holly on handpan and additional live instruments.

The resonance of the instruments can support relaxation, quieten mental activity and offer space for the body to settle and absorb what has unfolded.

You are welcome to lie down, sit, adjust your position or step outside at any time.

About kirtan and heart songs

Traditional Indian kirtan is a devotional practice of call-and-response chanting. A leader offers a chant—often a simple mantra or phrase—and the group responds, gradually building rhythm, energy and connection through repetition.

Accompanied by guitar, harmonium and percussion, you’ll be invited to lend your voice or simply listen as we move through a blend of traditional chants and contemporary heart songs: lyrical prayers that explore connection, healing and remembrance.

No singing experience is needed, and participation is always optional.

Closing and integration

We’ll complete the journey by gently closing the space and allowing time for grounded integration.

You’ll be welcome to share in a small group, journal, rest quietly or simply notice what is present.

To help you land back in your body and in the warmth of community, we’ll finish with nourishing tea, soup and treats—a simple, heartful way to step into the Spring Equinox feeling resourced, connected and accompanied by the insights of the journey.

About the Canberra Ecstatic Dance Collective

The Canberra Ecstatic Dance Collective has offered monthly dances in Canberra for nine years, creating supportive spaces where people can express, release and experience joy through movement.

Each dance is lovingly curated as a journey that gradually rises towards a peak before returning to softness and integration.

There are no prescribed steps. The invitation is to create space for whatever is authentically emerging from within, while remaining aware and respectful of others sharing the dance floor.

Venue note

Although Resonance is being held in a church hall, the event is independently facilitated and is not affiliated with the church or any particular religious denomination.

Kirtan has its origins in Indian devotional traditions and will be shared with acknowledgement and respect for those roots. You are welcome to sing, listen quietly or choose not to participate.

Sound experience disclaimer

Crystal bowl and instrumental sound experiences are complementary relaxation and wellbeing practices, not medical or psychological treatment.

Please advise the facilitators before participating if you are pregnant or experience sound sensitivity, migraines, tinnitus, epilepsy or seizures, have a significant medical condition, or use an implanted electronic medical device.

Some people may experience emotional responses, changes in body sensations or shifts in awareness during sound-based practices. You are always welcome to adjust your position, sit up, use ear protection, leave the room briefly or let a facilitator know if you need support.

By attending, you acknowledge that you are responsible for participating within your own limits. If you are unsure whether breathwork or sound practices are appropriate for you, please consult your healthcare professional and contact the facilitators before the event.
